Sugar Creek Baptist Church Starts New Job Search Ministry

More than 60 area job seekers attended the first session of a new jobs ministry “Job Search Survival” sponsored by Sugar Creek Baptist Church. Inspired to respond to the loss of jobs caused by the current economic downturn, the program’s twofold purpose is to help members, family, friends, and area residents sharpen their job-hunting skills, then match them with Job openings.
Job Search Survival Ministry is free to anyone in need of a job. Workshop meetings will be held each Wednesday morning at the LYF Center, 13444 SW Freeway Sugar Land 77478. Doors open at 8:30am, class starts at 9am. Classes end at 12:30pm. Register for the workshop on Wednesday morning – no pre registration needed. Skilled and experienced Sugar Creek Baptist Church members and friends will staff workshop sessions that include subjects such as Focusing Your Job Search, Resume Preparation, Networking, and Interview Techniques.
“We will teach proven and successful job search skills,” Mickey Mixon, ministry team leader, said. “We know our participants’ first concern is finding a new job. We want to not only help them find job openings, but prepare them to make the most of every job interview opportunity.”
